Strange Obsession

I am obsessed with sharks. Like scary way over the top she might have issues scary. Just to show you how obsessed i am let me list off all the shark related things i have. Ahem. I have 8 stuffed sharks, 2 ceramic sharks, 1 wooden shark, 3 shark posters, 4 shark teeth including a Megadalon tooth, 2 copies of the Jaws movie scrip( one of them is autographed), 11 books on sharks, 4 shark stickers, one shark key chain, all of the Jaws movies, all the shark week DVDs, two other box sets about sharks, Anatomy of a Shark Bite DVD, i used to have some sharks but they died, and i have lots of pictures with sharks. Also, i have learned that Jaws 5 Resurface is coming out in 2010 and i will be the person at the midnight showing with a Jaws shirt on. It is directed by Steven Speilberg so it has potential to be good. And even if it's not i'm going to see it atleast twice in the theaters and buy it when it comes out.
So there it is folks i have issues. I'm way into sharks, but i just can't help it! Their just so fascinating!

And heres a website for the Jaws 5 trailer if anyone is interesting:

Go Fug Yourself.

Ah the 9 essays are memorized, the 3 tests are taken, and now i have time to blog.

You are probably wondering what i mean by "Go Fug Yourself". This is not what you think...it has nothing to do with that. It is the most amazing website ever!. This lady blogs about what celebrities are wearing. It's super funny because all the clothes on there for the most part are hideous and it makes you wish you were a fashion designer and could design crap like that and charge hundreds of dollars for it, and people would actually buy it. Ah yes, that would be the life. Every time i feel down or depressed i read this blog and it makes me laugh so hard. So i thought i would share it...enjoy!

Judgement Day Part 1

Today is the beginning of judgement day for me. Today i applied to universities. Scary? Yes. Nerve-racking? Yes!
Today is the first day to send in your applications to universities and with all the budget cuts (especially at Cal State Log Beach which is cutting 5000 students) i wanted to be first in line to submit my applications! Apparently this process takes a lot longer than i had originally thought. And requires information myself and other members of my family have problems remembering. For instance. None of us could remember when i graduated highschool. I find this to be kinda sad in a way. On the other hand it shows you i've successfully block highschool out of my mind and so have my parents. The other snag i hit was that apparently my AJ 100 class dose not show up on the list! Why!?!?! So after i panicked for awhile i found the button that says "write class in here". Saved! After that it was smooth sailing. I applied for Cal State Long Beach, Fullerton, and LA. My first choice LONG BEACH!!! We shall see if i get in....in APRIL( why so long?) . Talk about anticipation.

Hair...loss...

Ever since I was about 14 or 15 I have had acne. It's taken me this long to get rid of it. I've tried EVERYTHING known to man to try and kill my acne, yet it is resilient stuff! Finally it seems to have been beaten into submission. Go Acutain! It's been 8 months but finally it's all gone!! Whoohoo!!
Now let me tell you about my love hate relationship with Acutaine. Love: It killed my acne Hate: It requires me to get my blood draw once a month (boo needles) my skin it super dry and nothing i do helps moisturize it, my hair is about half the size it used to be, and my eyes leak this weird white stuff.
The dry skin doesn't bother me that much. I'm itchy, oh well. The eye things is slightly more annoying but eye drops seem to help. Now what really is upsetting is that my hair is coming out by the mounds! Luckily, for all who know me, i have tons of hair to cushion this effect. I went to clean my room yesterday and i got so much hair off just my bathroom carpet that it could have made my brother a wig...sadly this is no exaggeration. And now time for a gross story!! I was washing my hair in the shower and i noticed that the drain wasn't draining so i saw a little bit of hair inside so i pulled. OH MY GOD! I kid you not i pulled out this thick piece of hair as long as my arm!! I was so grossed out! It made me think of the movie The Grudge for some odd reason.
But! This is my last dose of Acutain then i'm done! Hooray!! And thankfully my dermatologists said my hair should come back, which is nice to know.

Let's talk about school

I finally i have some time to stop and blog ( not really i'm just procrastinating).
So, a couple of weeks ago i went to see my counselor at Fullerton College and received some rather crushing news that almost destroyed me in one foul swoop. I discovered i was 18 units shy of the 60 you need to transfer. Now normally this would not have been such a huge deal if they had not closed spring transfer due to budget cuts and all the jazz. For all you people who don't know how the transfer process works let me take a moment and explain. If you apply in the fall you don't get notified that you are excepted into the school until about april-may, and then you attend whatever university the coming fall. I'm applying this semester (fall) so i would be excepted next semester (spring). Now i received the bad news that i dint have enough units to transfer now. This is a problem. Normally i would just apply in the spring instead but not they closed it so i would have to wait 2 years to transfer...which would be horrible!! So i'm stuck taking a winter intercession which is 2 weeks long and 15 units in the spring (one 5 unit, one 4 unit, and two 3 units) booooo. But, on the upside i went to Cal State Long Beach and talked to a counselor and the head of the Criminal Justice department and they said i should have no problem getting excepted if i can get all the 60 units! Yay!
Ok on to today. So, i'm taking this speech 105 class and we have a 4-5 page paper due in 2 weeks. No big deal right? Wrong. We have to "collect date" for our papers. Now this is what our data is supposed to consist of. We can either a) stare at someone in an elevator b) walk up to a random person and start a conversation with them c) complement somebody randomly d) or while talking to someone sniff and wink at them a lot. Now is it just me or is this really stupid on a lot of different levels? My solution to the problem. Lie. That's right i'm breaking one of the ten commandments, but i just can't do this. So, what i have decided to do is take something like this that has happened to me and reverse the roles. It's not a complete lie right? Just revised.

Ugh

Well i'm a terrible blogger. But it's not my fault i have absolutely no time whatsoever to do anything but school, work, and the mounds of homework i have this semester.
So school is ok i had my first speech in speech class and i rambled about serial killers. This was probably not a good idea on my part, people probably think 'm weird or a serial killer myself. Science class is a lot of work but we get to see random pictures or cute animals (like the Sandfox) and here interesting tails from out teacher (like how there is a pile of trash the size of Texas in the middle of the Pacific Ocean). History class is not that bad except there is this CRAZY girl in my class. My friend had her last semester and she almost assaulted her. She's nuts. She says the most awkward things. And she doesn't talk..she YELLS! She needs to learn to use her indoor voice. But i get to be creative this semester. I'm taking a ceramics class. I'm not very good, but it's still a lot of fun.
On to more fun interesting stuff. I recently got a volunteer job for the Brea Police Department! It's pretty sweet. Everybody is cool, and i got to meet Cliff the pot sniffing dog. Then i got to see/smell pot. Then cliff gave us a demonstration. It was pretty cool.

Rocken in LA then Chillen at the beach

Let's start with Saturday. So Saturday night my friend Teila and I went to LA around 9:30 to go to this place called the Echo Plex to see a band she liked called The Henry Clay People. They are from SO Cal and were actually really good. The place was awesome. It had the nightclub feel to it, and they had all these different little bands playing in different corners which was pretty cool. I guess the theme for the night was "circus" so everybody was dressed up with funny hats and mustaches. We unfortunately were not aware of this so we were forced to be the only uncool people there. Bummer right? After we listened to the band awhile we wondered around in search of Teilas speech teacher who told her about the concert. Now i've never meet this man before but Miki and Teila have both had him for speech. This man is like 45+ really nerdy looking but knows everything about bands. Where they are playing, and he knows the band members. It's very odd. You look at him and you don't think this guy knows anything about bands...well he knows EVERYTHING. It's weird. Anyway, he was going to introduce us to the band but we decided to leave before it was over because it was like midnight and we were tired. We are just bad party people.
Today Miki and I decided to go to Manhattan Beach to see a aquarium and just hangout. The beach was nice so we just hungout and attempted to tan for awhile. I got a sun burn instead. Surprised? Well i'm not. i can't tan. I think it's just not in my genes. Then we wondered up to the aquarium which was at the end of the pier. Now this was a sad little aquarium. My living room is bigger than it. But outside they had a life size great white. Now you know what that means. Photo op!!

Vintage Cloths how you amuse me

Today I met up with Miki and Ryan at school to get our parking permits and some books. We were to lazy to wait in line for the permit so we left. Go us. We were bored so I suggested this two story thrift store/vintage store this lady had told me about at work. I won't get into the conversation with her because it was very odd and i'm not sure how we got from our conversation about weight then boobs (awkward right?) then randomly vintage stores.
Anyway we found the store and it's pretty big it's like two stories tall. The upstairs had all the vintage clothes so thats were we went. Talk about a blast from the past. I'm glad i live now, i just don't think i could of handled the fashion back then it was just bad. I'm sorry to all of you out there who are into vintage stuff, but that is how i feel.
We were looking around and Miki yells to me "they have vintage wedding dresses!". Of course this meant we had to try them all on. I don't think the word atrocious even begins to described all of these dresses, they were hideous! There was no shape to almost all of them, there was awful giant tool flowers, so much lace everywhere, and one actually buttoned up the front and had a train that was longer than my car. No joke. Unfortunately i only had my camera phone so i have no pictures, which for me is probably good because I looked beyond ridiculous.

Trip to Venice Beach

So the other day my friend and I drove down to Santa Monica where her sister lives. I haven't seen her or her daughter for awhile because last time i saw them her daughter could not walk, and now bam! she's walking.
We decided to get lunch first before we ventured to Venice Beach. All of us are obsessed with Chipotle so we had that for lunch and Ayanah her daughter, sat on my lap, it was very cute. After lunch we went to the beach. It was actually a really good day to go to the beach not to hot. So we wondered around and looked at the scary muscle guys working out at Muscle Beach then we decided we were awesome and strong too and played on the bars. After that we went over to the ocean and took some pictures of us acting silly.
After that we wondered around for awhile and just peopled watched. Now the unfortunate part. This really muscular American Indian guy walked by us wearing nothing but a American flag speedo and my friend yells to me "Katie take that mans picture!!!". Now of course this attracts him to us. Awkward. So he comes up and he's like "Sure i'll take a picture with you". He says this to me. Now I din't yell come over, so why are you talking to me? Why?! So he turns to me and goes "your 18 right?" I say yes. Big mistake. He proceeds to put his arm around my shoulders and starts posing and flexing his muscles. I do not think i've ever been so disturbed in my whole life. Then to make things worse he starts to carry on this conversation with me about how his mom just abandoned him at Venice Beach one day and that's why he's here. Eventually i managed to escape and made a mad dash back to the car.
After that everything else was good. We had frozen yogurt which i shared with Ayanah, then we just hungout at their apartment until we had to go home. Overall it was a very good day! Minus the man in the speedo of course.

Blood draw take two and adventure to The District

Well i would like to report that after two people and a lot of holes in my arms and hand my blood has successfully been drawn! I kinda looked like a mummy when i left i had so many bandages everywhere.
Ok, on to more happy things to report. This afternoon i went with my mom to this place called The District for some city of Irvine thing sponsored by the police and firefighters. For some reason they wanted people from the OC Animal Shelter to come and have a both there and since my mom volunteers there she and this other guy were sent to run the both. Needless to say i din't stick around when there was a shopping center the size of a small town. My first stop was this huge Target the size of my street and that is not an exaggeration. Then i walked across the road to the other half of the mall. Clothing store wise it wasn't all the different, but if you want cool places to eat and just hangout they have lot. Then i went to TJ Max because i'm cheap..and i got a Lucky shirt for like 12 bucks score!
Now for the exciting part. They have a Whole Foods there and i've been in one so my mom and i ventured inside. Wow. This place was huge! and it had everything you could imagine. It had a coffee bar, a juice bar, a sushi bar, a wine tasting place, a italian place, a pizza place, a cheese bar, a nut bar, a chocolate fountain bar, a gellato bar (got some by the way, very tasty) plus all your groceries you could need, plus clothes and jewelry, and three different buffets, and all this other amazing stuff..i was blown away and now want one built over by me.
I also managed to network with cops and police volunteer people so i can get my foot in the door so to speak so i have a better chance of getting in Long Beach. Go sucking up!

I hate needles and the people who stick me with them.

I'm on this medication called Acutain to help get rid of my acne. I've tried absolutely everything else and my acne just wouldn't die. So, my last option was Acutain and thankfully it's working! Yay! and there was much rejoicing. Anyway, when you are Acutain you have to get all these test done to make sure you kidney are not going to explode your heart isn't going to fail and lots of other fun stuff. Lucky i've experience none of these. But this whole going in and giving my blood every month is not fun. I'm a coward. I admit it. I cannot handle needles. I always get the trainee or the person whose not good at it. Today i had such a person. She failed to get blood from either one of my arms...um why? This is sad right? So i had to change my doctors appointment and i have to go back tomorrow to be poked again. And to top it off i was there so long i had to pay for parking. Grr..

On a happier note check this video out. It's very Tim Burten.

Let the juicing commence

So, today this lady at church gave me a Jack Lalanne Juicer for free! This thing is worth like 300$. I guess her mom bought two for some reason. Anyway, I'm very excited about the prospect of having fresh fruit smoothies, especially to take to school for breakfast. I'm hoping that fruit is more filling than the cereal that i normally eat for breakfast. I get up at 6:30 am and by the time i get to school and my class starts i'm starving. This is no good especially when the class is boring. Having my tummy rumble threw the class and be bored just sucks.
Tonight will be my first attempt at smoothy making. I plan to try a strawberry and banana one first then go from there. Ah. I feel more healthy already.

The adventure to the Artists Village

Yay first post! Let's see if i become an addicted blogger.

I actually have something interesting to report about my life! Score.
Anyway. Yesterday my friend and I went to this place in downtown Santa Ana called the Artists Village. We were going to see the comic book artist named Crumb (the exhibit is called R. Crumbs Underground). Even though I'm not really into comic book art it turned out to actually be pretty cool! And what made it even more impressive is that he did some of it using printmaking, which i learned in history of art is not quite that easy. This guys is 80 years old..and hes been doing this for years. Pretty impressive, even though some of it was kinda dirty..but all in all i found it to be very interesting.

After that we went to this really cool coffee shop/restaurant call the Gypsy Den. This place was awesome. It was very bohemian. They had all these really neat paintings and rugs hung all over the walls. And they had all this really neat old furniture. You could eat at a table or just lounge in all these different areas. And the food was also very tasty.
After that we went into this 3 story building to just look around and see the galleries. But for some odd reason they were all close. Bummer. But we did find this place called the Art Den or . It was this neat little art supply shop/ art workshop/ random stuff. Then we went upstairs to this one gallery that was actually open, yay, and we were greeted by Harely the slightly over weight labrador. We spent like 20 minutes talking to this very interesting artist guy named Joseph some foreign last name i can't spell. Anyway, there was this necklace there that my friend really liked it was rectangular shaped sterling silver with black onyx on it. And what made it really cool was that is had SM to DM engraved on the back of it. How romantic. He gave it to her for 10$!! What a buy! And it's real..not fake. Really good buy. The her proceeded to tell us about this huge art festival that happens ever first saturday of the month and told us that we should come because it's the place to be. So hopefully i shall return there tonight if i don't have to work. Cross your fingers.
Hm wow long first post.
