Rocken in LA then Chillen at the beach

Let's start with Saturday. So Saturday night my friend Teila and I went to LA around 9:30 to go to this place called the Echo Plex to see a band she liked called The Henry Clay People. They are from SO Cal and were actually really good. The place was awesome. It had the nightclub feel to it, and they had all these different little bands playing in different corners which was pretty cool. I guess the theme for the night was "circus" so everybody was dressed up with funny hats and mustaches. We unfortunately were not aware of this so we were forced to be the only uncool people there. Bummer right? After we listened to the band awhile we wondered around in search of Teilas speech teacher who told her about the concert. Now i've never meet this man before but Miki and Teila have both had him for speech. This man is like 45+ really nerdy looking but knows everything about bands. Where they are playing, and he knows the band members. It's very odd. You look at him and you don't think this guy knows anything about bands...well he knows EVERYTHING. It's weird. Anyway, he was going to introduce us to the band but we decided to leave before it was over because it was like midnight and we were tired. We are just bad party people.
Today Miki and I decided to go to Manhattan Beach to see a aquarium and just hangout. The beach was nice so we just hungout and attempted to tan for awhile. I got a sun burn instead. Surprised? Well i'm not. i can't tan. I think it's just not in my genes. Then we wondered up to the aquarium which was at the end of the pier. Now this was a sad little aquarium. My living room is bigger than it. But outside they had a life size great white. Now you know what that means. Photo op!!

Vintage Cloths how you amuse me

Today I met up with Miki and Ryan at school to get our parking permits and some books. We were to lazy to wait in line for the permit so we left. Go us. We were bored so I suggested this two story thrift store/vintage store this lady had told me about at work. I won't get into the conversation with her because it was very odd and i'm not sure how we got from our conversation about weight then boobs (awkward right?) then randomly vintage stores.
Anyway we found the store and it's pretty big it's like two stories tall. The upstairs had all the vintage clothes so thats were we went. Talk about a blast from the past. I'm glad i live now, i just don't think i could of handled the fashion back then it was just bad. I'm sorry to all of you out there who are into vintage stuff, but that is how i feel.
We were looking around and Miki yells to me "they have vintage wedding dresses!". Of course this meant we had to try them all on. I don't think the word atrocious even begins to described all of these dresses, they were hideous! There was no shape to almost all of them, there was awful giant tool flowers, so much lace everywhere, and one actually buttoned up the front and had a train that was longer than my car. No joke. Unfortunately i only had my camera phone so i have no pictures, which for me is probably good because I looked beyond ridiculous.

Trip to Venice Beach

So the other day my friend and I drove down to Santa Monica where her sister lives. I haven't seen her or her daughter for awhile because last time i saw them her daughter could not walk, and now bam! she's walking.
We decided to get lunch first before we ventured to Venice Beach. All of us are obsessed with Chipotle so we had that for lunch and Ayanah her daughter, sat on my lap, it was very cute. After lunch we went to the beach. It was actually a really good day to go to the beach not to hot. So we wondered around and looked at the scary muscle guys working out at Muscle Beach then we decided we were awesome and strong too and played on the bars. After that we went over to the ocean and took some pictures of us acting silly.
After that we wondered around for awhile and just peopled watched. Now the unfortunate part. This really muscular American Indian guy walked by us wearing nothing but a American flag speedo and my friend yells to me "Katie take that mans picture!!!". Now of course this attracts him to us. Awkward. So he comes up and he's like "Sure i'll take a picture with you". He says this to me. Now I din't yell come over, so why are you talking to me? Why?! So he turns to me and goes "your 18 right?" I say yes. Big mistake. He proceeds to put his arm around my shoulders and starts posing and flexing his muscles. I do not think i've ever been so disturbed in my whole life. Then to make things worse he starts to carry on this conversation with me about how his mom just abandoned him at Venice Beach one day and that's why he's here. Eventually i managed to escape and made a mad dash back to the car.
After that everything else was good. We had frozen yogurt which i shared with Ayanah, then we just hungout at their apartment until we had to go home. Overall it was a very good day! Minus the man in the speedo of course.

Blood draw take two and adventure to The District

Well i would like to report that after two people and a lot of holes in my arms and hand my blood has successfully been drawn! I kinda looked like a mummy when i left i had so many bandages everywhere.
Ok, on to more happy things to report. This afternoon i went with my mom to this place called The District for some city of Irvine thing sponsored by the police and firefighters. For some reason they wanted people from the OC Animal Shelter to come and have a both there and since my mom volunteers there she and this other guy were sent to run the both. Needless to say i din't stick around when there was a shopping center the size of a small town. My first stop was this huge Target the size of my street and that is not an exaggeration. Then i walked across the road to the other half of the mall. Clothing store wise it wasn't all the different, but if you want cool places to eat and just hangout they have lot. Then i went to TJ Max because i'm cheap..and i got a Lucky shirt for like 12 bucks score!
Now for the exciting part. They have a Whole Foods there and i've been in one so my mom and i ventured inside. Wow. This place was huge! and it had everything you could imagine. It had a coffee bar, a juice bar, a sushi bar, a wine tasting place, a italian place, a pizza place, a cheese bar, a nut bar, a chocolate fountain bar, a gellato bar (got some by the way, very tasty) plus all your groceries you could need, plus clothes and jewelry, and three different buffets, and all this other amazing stuff..i was blown away and now want one built over by me.
I also managed to network with cops and police volunteer people so i can get my foot in the door so to speak so i have a better chance of getting in Long Beach. Go sucking up!

I hate needles and the people who stick me with them.

I'm on this medication called Acutain to help get rid of my acne. I've tried absolutely everything else and my acne just wouldn't die. So, my last option was Acutain and thankfully it's working! Yay! and there was much rejoicing. Anyway, when you are Acutain you have to get all these test done to make sure you kidney are not going to explode your heart isn't going to fail and lots of other fun stuff. Lucky i've experience none of these. But this whole going in and giving my blood every month is not fun. I'm a coward. I admit it. I cannot handle needles. I always get the trainee or the person whose not good at it. Today i had such a person. She failed to get blood from either one of my arms...um why? This is sad right? So i had to change my doctors appointment and i have to go back tomorrow to be poked again. And to top it off i was there so long i had to pay for parking. Grr..

On a happier note check this video out. It's very Tim Burten.

Let the juicing commence

So, today this lady at church gave me a Jack Lalanne Juicer for free! This thing is worth like 300$. I guess her mom bought two for some reason. Anyway, I'm very excited about the prospect of having fresh fruit smoothies, especially to take to school for breakfast. I'm hoping that fruit is more filling than the cereal that i normally eat for breakfast. I get up at 6:30 am and by the time i get to school and my class starts i'm starving. This is no good especially when the class is boring. Having my tummy rumble threw the class and be bored just sucks.
Tonight will be my first attempt at smoothy making. I plan to try a strawberry and banana one first then go from there. Ah. I feel more healthy already.

The adventure to the Artists Village

Yay first post! Let's see if i become an addicted blogger.

I actually have something interesting to report about my life! Score.
Anyway. Yesterday my friend and I went to this place in downtown Santa Ana called the Artists Village. We were going to see the comic book artist named Crumb (the exhibit is called R. Crumbs Underground). Even though I'm not really into comic book art it turned out to actually be pretty cool! And what made it even more impressive is that he did some of it using printmaking, which i learned in history of art is not quite that easy. This guys is 80 years old..and hes been doing this for years. Pretty impressive, even though some of it was kinda dirty..but all in all i found it to be very interesting.

After that we went to this really cool coffee shop/restaurant call the Gypsy Den. This place was awesome. It was very bohemian. They had all these really neat paintings and rugs hung all over the walls. And they had all this really neat old furniture. You could eat at a table or just lounge in all these different areas. And the food was also very tasty.
After that we went into this 3 story building to just look around and see the galleries. But for some odd reason they were all close. Bummer. But we did find this place called the Art Den or . It was this neat little art supply shop/ art workshop/ random stuff. Then we went upstairs to this one gallery that was actually open, yay, and we were greeted by Harely the slightly over weight labrador. We spent like 20 minutes talking to this very interesting artist guy named Joseph some foreign last name i can't spell. Anyway, there was this necklace there that my friend really liked it was rectangular shaped sterling silver with black onyx on it. And what made it really cool was that is had SM to DM engraved on the back of it. How romantic. He gave it to her for 10$!! What a buy! And it's real..not fake. Really good buy. The her proceeded to tell us about this huge art festival that happens ever first saturday of the month and told us that we should come because it's the place to be. So hopefully i shall return there tonight if i don't have to work. Cross your fingers.
Hm wow long first post.
